As any good writer should be, I am poor. At first I was ashamed but over time I became accustomed to it. Over the weekend I went to my cousin's engagement party. My uncle pretty much invented cable television (I'm not kidding, I'll thank you for him the next time I see him) and thus was able to throw a very elaborate celebration.
I celebrated finishing the novel with a bottle of Canadian Mist, but on Saturday night I celebrated my cousin's engagement with Johnny Walker Red. And let me tell you folks, I hope my other cousin gets engaged soon because there is a big difference between the two. This may seem obvious, but without having experienced the Canadian Mist I never would have know how exceptional a gentleman Johnny Walker could be.

isolation
I've gone weeks without talking to another human being face to face. It's quite easy, you just fall in a daily routine and soon realize emails, text messages and phone calls are the only human interaction you've had for days. And when I do get back around people its exhausting to suddenly be overwhelmed by constant conversation and expectations to continue interacting with people.
But the truly difficult part is going back to isolation. Right after I've gotten in the habit of sharing my observations with fellow human beings and enjoy the repartee. Then I get back in this big empty house and realize there is nobody there to listen. There will be footsteps and I expect for a friend or cousin to come around the corner. And I wonder if they'll have something to share with me or if I have something to say to them. But then it is only Socrates, who is sweet, but he doesn't understand when I talk to him about the mist rolling in off the ocean and how haunting it is.

Cape Cod
I've gotten into the habit of taking a photo at 5:37 p.m. every day. It's not so much a habit as much as I set an alarm on my phone and every day when it starts making a stange noise I take a picture of wherever I'm at. I think this will make for a not-so-intersting YouTube video someday and also a way to prove to my children that the four months I spent on Cape Cod I wasn't just playing with my willy the whole time.
Website hosting
When I was in seventh grade I taught myself HTML. I borrowed books from the library, I researched the internet before it even existed and out of all my struggled emerged a Star Wars Role Playing Game web site. Nobody really knows how nerdy it was there for a while but I assure you it was top secret nerdiness.
